Womens mini marathon

MINI MARATHON 2010

This year the Women’s Mini Marathon hit a record with over 40,000 running and walking the route. The race has maintained its place as the largest of its kind in the world. As such it was an important day for us, as it was one of our biggest single day fundraisers of the year.
Almost 300 women from far and wide joined our team to run, walk or jog on behalf of the BML Trust. Resplendent in white tee-shirts were new participants and many regulars who come back to support us year after year. We depend so much on the Irish public to help the national transplant unit to continue its work and its vital research and each year this event is testimony to their generosity.
This year we held our our Post Marathon reception in the Russell Court Hotel and even though the rain fell it was a hub of activity both before and after the event. Many of our team called in to say hello and leave unwanted items behind before setting off to take up the challenge.
Food, refreshments and great craic finished off the day for everyone. Stories were told, medals compared, jokes shared, and families came to welcome home their heroes.
As usual, Phyllis Mullins and Susan Campbell, our long-time friends and volunteers, were there to help us. We value and appreciate their support every year. Our sincere thanks to to the Russell Court staff. The women of Ireland have made the Mini Marathon what it is today. To our own women we say thank you very much and we look forward to meeting you all again next year. Last year the event raised over €50,000 for our charity, and we hope to better that figure this year.
