How art benefits your health
The Bone Marrow Transplant Unit (Denis Burkitt Ward) at St James’s Hospital takes the view that the doctor’s responsibility extends far beyond diagnosis and treatment but to the whole patient environment. Art in all of is forms is seen as a major force for enhancing the experience of hospital life for both patients and staff. Thus a wall painting in the corridor of the Unit and the transmission of projected images onto the wall of the patient’s room “Open Window” were introduced in the past decade.
It is against this background that BMLT is once again turning to art in the form of an online gallery, With the money raised it hopes to continue its long-standing efforts in the interest of patients.
