Christmas Cards

Christmas cards have been a great source of income for the Trust. Our 2015 selection of Christmas Cards will go on display in early October.

If you would like to support the BMLT and purchase  some from our selection you can us at   If convenient you can call into the office or we can provide a postal service for those of you who cannot drop in. Cards will also be available from the Haematology Day Ward, Denis Burkitt Ward, and in the main concourse of St. James’s Hospital.

Wedding favors

In lieu of wedding favours it has become very popular to add a meaningful and personal touch to your wedding. Instead of giving each guest a favour, you can make a donation to the Bone Marrow Trust.  We will supply you with cards to leave on the table so your guests are aware of your action. this is a way of honouring a loved one or remembering a special friend.

We have standard wedding favour cards available, and we are happy to personalise them to suit your special day.

All fundraising on behalf of the Bone Marrow for Leukaemia Trust or donation to the Trust is extremely gratefully received.

You can make a difference.

BMLT_VolunteersWe are constantly funding different projects, the big project for the next three years is to provide funding of €750,000 to enable Trinity College Dublin and St James’s Hospital to strengthen cancer care and research. This will fund a new position – Assistant Professor in Haematology, a post crucial for building research capacity for the ultimate benefit of patients with leukaemia and related diseases.

We are constantly looking at ways of increasing our accommodation for patients who are outside commuting distance of the hospital.  The apartments are always in demand, in truth we could easily fill twice as many as we have.  These apartments are allocated to patients for those times when they must be near the hospital but do not need to be inpatients.

The stress and strain on families and individuals going through the process before and after transplant is enormous especially if there is no family or extended family with whom they can stay within commuting distance of the hospital.  The Trust will always try to help those people who are worse affected in whatever way they can.

We will also fund one of the nurses, and from time to time will fund research which directly affects the treatment of leukaemia, lymphoma and myleomas.

Donations may be from individual fundraisers (see our section of ideas on how to get involved) these can be great fun and allow you to include your friends and family.  They maybe bequests or legacies see below, or they may be a simple gift.

In fact why not visit our gallery here we have original pieces of art for sale.  This gives you a unique way of supporting the Trust and having something beautiful as a wedding gift or birthday present.  We have some of the top Irish artists supporting us; feel free to have a browse through the online gallery.

Leaving Hope

Gifts in wills help fund more than a third of our services - we simply couldn't do what we do without them.

By remembering the Bone Marrow for Leukaemia Trust in your will you can provide a lasting gift to the people of Ireland. A gift in your will can make a vital difference to someone living with a cancerous blood disorder in the future. Remember leaving a legacy does not have to be a big donation, small gestures can make a big difference to us.

When we receive a gift we ensure that the wishes of the deceased are carried out with care and respect.

There are three types of charitable legacies:-

  • A pecuniary legacy is a gift of a specific amount of money.
  • A residuary legacy is a share of the rest of your asset that you have not already committed. So it is a percentage of your estate.
  • A specific legacy is a gift of a specific asset.

If you already have made a will and wish to include a gift to the Bone Marrow for Leukaemia Trust you can simply add a codicil (addition) this can be easily done by your solicitor.

If you have not yet prepared a will, simply contact your solicitor. Making a will is easy and inexpensive.

We are extremely grateful for any amount we receive and can guarantee your gift will help families and patients of leukaemia, myeloma, lymphoma and related diseases.

The most important bits of information to include are our name, our address and our registered charity number:
